February Apothecary
I want to take this opportunity to thank all of you who attended the winter convention in Sanibel, Florida last month. Not too long ago when I was an undergraduate I was 1 of just a handful who attended, now I am proud to say that they make up more than half the attendees. Even more amazing is we have almost doubled our numbers in that same time. It is always so great to see the bonds of friendship shared between fraters. We welcomed in 3 Fraters from the newly reactivated Rho chapter, honored two very deserving Jay L Pollock Supreme Undergraduate award winners in Katelyn Parsons and Taryn Merchant, stepped back into history at the Edison-Ford estates, and watched Judy Fine tear up the dance floor with some Epsilon youngsters. I can only hope that each of you enjoyed yourselves as much as I did and continue to spread enthusiasm at your home chapters.
The fraternal year continues to fly by and I still have many things I hope to accomplish before we meet again in Baltimore. Among my top priorities is to make as many chapter visits as possible. First up on my travel schedule is a trip up to the ladies of Tau in early February. My trips to Boston never disappoint so I am sure this one will be no different. A few short weeks later I'm looking forward to another fun filled weekend at Sigma as they host their annual bowl-a-thon. This year promises to be even more memorable as I will be presiding over the induction ceremony of 20 new fraters at the newly established Theta Gamma Chapter (University of Findlay). AZO has been given full rights and privileges at the university and I am pleased to report that they have already started to organize and plan events. I would like to thank Alex Serafino, Janee Whitner and the rest of the Sigma fraters who have helped get this going and ask for your continued support to help ensure a sustainable future at the new chapter. April is scheduled to be the return of the mini-convention as Epsilon will be hosting its closing affair banquet dinner and "AZO Fest". Last year over 100 Fraters and guests attended from 5 chapters and I know this year they're looking to have even more. In May the Epsilon Alumni and New York Alumni are planning a joint dinner meeting which Lou Flacks is setting up so I know it be a great meal and a great time. Finally, in June I am planning on joining the fraters of Philadelphia Alumni for their closing affair. I continue to ask chapters to inform me of potential dates for me to visit so that I can plan accordingly. As you can see my schedule is already filling up very nicely so the earlier the better.
I would like to thank all of the chapters that have participated in an event or donated to this year's national charity the Lustgarten Foundation. If your chapter has not done so already please make an effort to set something up for this spring to help raise money and awareness for this worthy cause.
Another one of my focuses will be the increased use of our website and social media sites. These are your sites as much as they are mine so use them. We are always seeking contributors of photos, articles, events, and anything else you want the AZO
community to be aware of. Some of you have already made your way over to the new Facebook page if not go check it out. Feel free to post chapter events and happenings there as well. In the coming weeks a new AZO Direct page will also be available, part of this year's efforts to reconnect with some of our lost fraters. Check back often as I'm going to try and keep it fresh and you might even find some contests or prizes in the coming weeks.
I would like to thank all of my officers for doing such a great job so far and all of the chapters that continue to flood my email box with minutes and reports. Keep up the great work! Let's keep the momentum going and make this second half even better than the first.
Fraternally,
Stephen Imperato
